Franchesca Marisol Cabrera, MA is a performing artist, dance educator, arts administrator and advocate passionate about community engagement and arts accessibility and experience for all.
She received her Bachelor of Arts in World Arts and Cultures from the University of California, Los Angeles and her Master of Arts from New York University in Arts Education with an emphasis on critical thinking. A California native and fluent bilingual Spanish speaker, Franchesca Marisol aims to offer engaging connections through arts experiences in educational settings, through tv and film, as a consultant to varied arts organizations and cultural institutions, and collaborating with local and national community members.

Having recently returned to California after 10 years of living and working in New York City, her most recent works include a partnership with State Street Ballet, as the Spanish language translator, interpreter and co-host on a 5-part video series on the creation of a new production, acting as the Assistant Director on a film staging for the Flamenco Arts Festival virtual 2021 festival and serving as a bilingual host for Univision’s broadcast of Old Spanish Days Fiesta Pequeña. Ms. Cabrera was the Director of Operations at the Santa Barbara Dance Institute (SBDI) as well as a SBDI dance teaching artist for schools in the Goleta and Santa Barbara Unified School District. In 2022, she founded the Academia de Folklorico at Franklin School on the Eastside and it was recently awarded a California Exemplary Arts Award providing high quality arts instruction during the school day. Marisol also works as the Booking Manager for Boxtales Theater Company and is on the Professional Development team of the Greater Board for the California Dance Education Association.

Over the last several years, Marisol has been a presenter at the National Dance Education Association (NDEO) conference as well as the California Dance Education Association (CDEA) Conference, and at UCSB on her most recent work Danza Guadalupana; A family legacy rooted in dance, cultural tradition, spirituality and community. She is actively involved with the Latinx Dance Educators Alliance (LXDEA), a mobilization of comunidad, that counters dominant, exclusionary practices prevalent in dance pedagogy, curriculum, scholarship, and spaces across the field.

Achievements
- As a Performing Artist, her dance training is in the styles of Classical Spanish, Flamenco, Baroque, Ballet and Mexican Folklorico.
- Her performances have taken her to London, Mexico, S. Korea, Spain & Hong Kong.
- While she resided in NYC, collaborations included Jacques d' Amboise ART NEST, appearances with Siren Baroque, five seasons with Company XIV and 2 seasons at The Metropolitan Opera.
- She has been a guest choreographer and instructor featured on Sesame Street, the Juilliard Dance Department and is currently a remote guest faculty teacher at The Ballet Hispánico School of Dance teaching Spanish Dance and Flamenco.
- She is a co-founder of the all female trio ensemble, Les Sirènes dedicated to the intimacy of voice, classical guitar and dance.
- She is a co-founder of ColectivXs, an interdisciplinary collective working to embody, honor and challenge space for Latinx identities.
